The third Joint Management Committee (JMC3) meeting of the GREEN-STEM project was held on 17 November 2025 at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. The meeting brought together representatives from all partner universities, project leadership, student beneficiaries, and the Expert Validation Committee, creating a platform for collaboration, oversight, and strategic planning.
The JMC3 aimed to review project progress, assess ongoing mobility activities, address challenges, and define priorities for the next implementation phase. Key focus areas included academic and administrative alignment, student welfare and inclusion, mobility outcomes, and the preparation of strategies to strengthen industry engagement and alumni networks.
Achievements and outcomes of the meeting included:
- Improved coordination and collaboration across all partner institutions, enhancing governance and operational efficiency.
- Comprehensive review of student mobility, confirming completed, ongoing, and upcoming exchanges, with strong gender and inclusion representation.
- Collection of student experiences to inform improvements in academic, social, and logistical support.
- Development of strategic recommendations, including harmonized vulnerability assessment, reintegration pathways for returning students, and plans to leverage alumni as ambassadors.
- Recognition of GREEN-STEM as a model for regional academic mobility, with frameworks and best practices positioned for broader African dissemination.
Through JMC3, the consortium reaffirmed its commitment to building a resilient African STEM ecosystem, promoting green, sustainable development, and ensuring equitable and inclusive opportunities for students across the continent.
