Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme coordinators’ Kick-Off meeting in Brussels

The Green, Resilient, and Entrepreneurial STEM for Africa(GREEN-STEM) Partner Institutions: University of Nairobi (Kenya), University of Lagos (Nigeria), University of Rwanda (Rwanda), University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), and Paris Sciences et Lettres University (France) held their kickoff physical meeting in Brussels, Belgium from March 20-22, 2024.

During the discussions, It was decided:

That the institutional contributions, scholarship, visa and traineeship should be cascaded to the partner universities i.e each university should fund their own students in whichever country.

That each university to review the grant agreement on Insurance (Annex 5 page 140 )and discuss the insurance framework with service providers – UoN to discuss with (Moi University.) UoN, UNILAG, WITZ and UR to report back on this in the April 5 meeting.

That there is a need to begin horizontal mobility in 2025 (to focus on research and traineeship but later consider course inclusion start with virtual guest lecturer for the professors and select a course to open even if bilaterally.

That the vertical Mobility calls should be out in April and the Masters call should run for 45days whereas the Doctorate calls should be continuous

That the website needs to be reworked and simplified -with 2 steps (Step 1-Apply for the programme at UR, UNILAG, WITZ and UON and Step 2- Apply for the scholarship (develop the scholarship application form and upload accordingly) 

That the brochure needs to be improved and shared to facilitate promotional /information sessions. Each university does its sensitization for students to apply.

That the calls should be ONE applicable to all universities regardless of the academic calendars.

There is a need to have bi-weekly Consortium meetings starting from April 5, 2024 at 11am Nairobi time
